Mr. Charles Edward Murphy, 93, of Rome, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at his residence. He was born July 26, 1921 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a 1st Lieutenant with the U.S. Army during WWII & retired from Bellsouth Telephone Company (AT&T).

Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife of 71 years, Quinnie Jean Lee Murphy; daughter - Pat (Tommy) Kelly, McBee, SC; sons - Michael (Bev) Murphy of Charlotte, NC, Charles (Margie) Murphy of Rome, Louis (Ann) Murphy of Centre, brothers & sister-in-law - Claude & Frank (Anne) Murphy, of Atlanta, sisters - Louise Smith, Gainesville, Georgia, Ruth Crawford of Salt Lake City, UT, Katherine Clay, Atlanta, Pat (Patrick) Harmon of Tampa, Florida, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by his parents, Lemuel and Nettie Mae Dennard Murphy; brothers, Floyd "Bebe" & Thaddeus Murphy; sisters, Margaret Jones Betts & Virginia Barrentine, all from the Atlanta area.

On Friday September 1, 2017, Quinnie Jean Lee Murphy and Charles Edward Murphy will be laid to rest at 11:00am in the Lee Family plot, Hogeye-Celeste Cemetery, Celeste, Texas.

Jean Murphy, age 92, passed away May 18, 2017 in Charlotte, NC. Charles Murphy, age 93, passed away May 5, 2015 in Rome, GA. They were married for 71 years and are survived by their four children Pat (Tommy) Kelly, McBee, SC, Mike (Bev) Murphy, Charlotte, NC, Charles Murphy, Rome, GA, and Louis (Anne) Murphy, Centre, AL; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
