Mrs. Barta, 90, Dies In West

Mrs. Katerina P. Barta, 90, of Route 2, West, died Saturday morning in a West nursing home.

Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Sunday in the Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Requiem Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. George Doskocil as celebrant. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Mrs. Barta was born in Flatonia and had lived in the West area for the past 40 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mrs. Barta was preceded in death by her son, Theodore Barta, who was killed in an auto accident in 1969.

Surviving are one son, William G. Barta of 601 Scarlet, Northcrest; two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Janie) Wetzel of San Antonio and Mrs. George (Katie) Keeton of Waco; one brother, Joe Pinter of West; two sisters, Mrs. Janie Curtis of Lubbock and Mrs. Mary Krizan of San Angelo; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jay Pinter, Raymond Pinter, Sam Pinter, Tommy Wetzel, George Barta and Bobby Royal.
