BURLINGTON - Ilene E. Lemieux (Bergeron), loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother went to be with the Lord on Nov. 16, 2009.
She was born in Burlington on April 2, 1926, the daughter of John Henry and Irene (Macia) Bergeron. Ilene graduated from Essex High School in 1943. She worked as a dental hygenist and attended Fanny Allen School of nursing. She went on to work at IBM before she retired in 1985. Mom loved her family dearly and was loved and respected by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her five children: Gary Lemieux and wife Carol Goodrum of South Burlington, Vt., Sharron Fortune and partner Bert Crowley of Burlington , Gregory Lemieux and wife Sally of South Burlington, Robert Lemieux, Jr. of Burlington, and Colleen Shaw and husband Tim of North Hero, Vt. Surviving grandchildren are: Stacey Ludka, David Lemieux, Tara Fortune, Kiley Fortune, Jennifer Powers, Adam Powers, Daniel Lemieux, Amy Lemieux, Jessica Kenyon, Justin Hatin and Jared Shaw. Surviving great grandchildren include Joshua Dacres, Benjamin Schifilliti, Vincent Schifilliti, Daniel Lemieux II, Alexis Pion and Kai Lemieux Ludka. Also surviving are brothers Richard Bergeron and his wife Dorothy of Conn., Carroll (Butch) Bergeron and his wife Joyce of Green Valley, Ariz., Barry Bergeron of Winooski, Vt, Robert Bergeron and his wife Judy of Rouses Point N.Y., and John Bergeron Jr. and his wife Terry of Jericho, Vt. She is also survived by sisters Dorothy (Wilson) and her husband Tom of Essex, Vt., Barbara (Lawrence) of South Burlington, and Margret (Halfhill) of Derry N.H. with many nieces and nephews. Ilene was pre-deceased by her husband Robert Lemieux, her parents, her brothers Gerald and Larry, sister Lorraine, and great grandson Jordan Fortune We, her family, wish to thank all those who helped care for Ilene these last few years.
