ALICE A. CURNS DEAD. Passed Away Late Yesterday After noon, After Illness of Only One Week Sister Mrs. L. J. Myers. Miss Alice A. Curns, a sister of Mrs. L. J. Myers, died last night at 5:50, after an illness of only one week, at the home of Mrs. Myers. The immediate cause of death was senile decay, although Miss Curns has been an invalid more or less all her life. Miss Alice A. Curns was born in Wayne, Clinton County, Pennsylvania, August 28, 1831. She lived there until over seven years ago, when she moved. to Fort Scott and has made her home with Mrs. Myers, who has given her constant attention. Since coming to this city. Miss Curns has been in very bad health, but it was not until a little over a week ago that she was taken seriously ill, and she failed rapidly until death resulted yesterday. When but 12 years of age, Miss Curns joined the Methodist Church, and she has been a constant member ever since. She never missed a Sunday, unless her illness kept her away. When the end came and it was a very peaceful end, too Miss Curns spoke of the visions. She talked of the Promised Land and described what she was seeing. She looked across the bar and saw her brother, who died a short time ago, and he beckoned her to come. She passed away peacefully, God-fearing, and ready to meet her Master. Miss Curns is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Emma Strayer of Jersey Shore, Pa.; Mrs. Tillie Smith of Akron, Ohio; Mrs. Mary Stahl of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. L. J. Myers or this city. There are also three brothers, John W. Curns of Los Angeles, Calif.; S. M. Curns of Cooks,Wash and R. A. D. Curns of Beloit, Wis. The funeral services will be here tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock from the Myers home, 202 South Crawford Street, and will be conducted by Dr. Satteriee of the M. E. church and Rev. Tolliver of the Baptist Church. Interment will be made in Evergreen Cemetery. No flowers. Fort Scott Daily Tribune, Dec 11, 1913.
