MAGRUDER, JOSEPH PALMER, 89, of Gray, TN, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2009. He was born in Dade County, FL in 1919. When he was 12 years old he joined Boy Scout Troop 21, the first year they were established. He was involved in scouting for over 70 years, during which time he attended 5 National Jamborees, 4 World Jamborees and numerous Camporees. He completed 21 annual Barefoot Mailman Hikes. Each being 50 miles long. Another achievement was receiving the first Cuban Fleur de Lis award. He dedicated his years in scouting to help young boys become better men and citizens. Joseph thanks all the boys, girls and adults who helped him through his years of scouting and became his life long friends. Surviving Joseph, are his wife of 60 years Marian "Terri" Magruder, his 4 children and 2 grandchildren. Joseph asked in lieu of flowers any contributions be made to Troop 21, Plymouth Congregation Church, Coconut Grove, FL. Services will be held at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport, TN.
