After their marriage Josiah and Annie continued to live with Samuel and Mahala, and here was born Virginia, the first of five children to be born to Josiah and Annie.
Josiah was the father of five children, three daughters and two sons, Virgie Virginia, Myrtle Irene, Grace E., Floyd Earl and Gorman B. Betts.
Josiah was the older brother of the following siblings, David U., Samuel L. and Noah G. Betts.

The Reaper Death
Mr. Josiah Betts, a well known merchant of Pleasant Walk, died last Friday night after an illness of only one week, of pleuro-pneumonia, aged nearly 44 years. he leaves a widow who was a Miss (Wilson) Drayher, of the same neighbor-hood, three daughters and two sons. His brother Prof. D. U. Betts, is a teacher in the Indian Schools in Washington State.
