Mrs. Theo. Toftner Rites to be Held at St. Petri Thursday

Mrs. Theodore (Karen) Toftner, 77, life long resident of the Gary community, passed away Sunday afternoon at the Ada Hospital. Mrs. Toftner had been in failing health for some time.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m., Thursday, April 29th, in the St. Petri Lutheran church east of Gary with the Rev. Duane Thompson officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Moen will sing, with Mrs. Selmer Gullingsrud as organist.

Pallbearers will be Morris Ysen, Orville Flaaten, Theodore J. Toftner, Keith Olson, Berthold Flaaten, and Jens Toftner. Interment will be made in the St. Petri cemetery with Erlien Funeral Home of Twin Valley in charge of arrangements.

Karen Pauline Ysen was born Aug. 11, 1887, in Strand Township, the daughter of Martin and Gina Ysen. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Petri and attended rural elementary school. She had also attended a dressmaking school in Crookston as a girl.

She was united in marriage to Theodore Toftner March 27, 1920 at the St. Petri Lutheran church by the late Rev. Nordby. After their marriage they resided on a farm in Strand Township.

As a young girl she did a lot of sewing and dressmaking. She was an honorary member of the ALCW at St. Petri and a life-long member of the St. Petri Lutheran church. She was a kind and devoted wife and mother, and was quite active in church organizations.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Garfield and Lloyd, both at home, and a sister, Mrs. Julius Albertson of Gary.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, two brothers, a sister, and her parents.
