LEOMINSTER, Oct 6—Mrs. Aura W. (Johnson) Whitney, 68, wife of Walter F, Whitney of 54 Church street, died Saturday night at the Corey Hill hopspital in Brookline. She was a native of Windsor, Vt, and had been a resident of this city for the past 44 years.
She was a charter member of the Fortnightly club and a past president, serving two; terms from 1907 to 1909 and from 1916 to 1917; a member of the Leominster Hospital guild, Thursday Musical club, the Alumni Assn. of the Fitchburg high school and was also a charter member of the American Legion auxiliary. She was choir mother of the Pilgrim Congregational church for the past 10 years and was active in the affairs of the church.
She leaves besides her husband three sons, Morgan W. of Hempstead, L. I, ad Walter F. Whitney, Jr., of Cranston, R. L. and Roscoe J. Whitney of this city, three brothers, William M. of Ann Harbor, Mich, James M. of Portland, Ore, and Carl G. Johnson of Pomfret, Vt, and five grandchildren. The funeral will be tomorrow afternoon in the Pilgrim Congrergational church at 2 o'clock with Rev. George L. Thurlow, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Abbey.
