Mrs. Etta Thompson, age 53 years, of Oneida, sister of Mrs. Bob Owens, Monticello died at her home on Friday afternoon at five o'clock, following a lingering illness.
Death brought release to the intense suffering which Mrs. Thompson had been undergoing for the past three weeks. She had been bedridden for some time but her condition became critical three weeks ago. Mrs. Thompson had often visited her sister here and had many friends
who learned with regret of her illness and death. She was the wife of Dr. M. E. Thompson Of Oneida.
Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at the Onedia High School. Burial was in the Marcum cemetery.
Survivors are her husband, Dr. Thompson; four daughters, Mrs. Vivian Voltman, Washington, D.C.; Mrs, May Johnson, Harriman, Tenn.; Mrs. Violet White, Jackson, Tenn.; Bertie Thompson, Oneida; two sons, Dr. Milford Thompson and Ewell Thompson, Oneida; three half sisters, Mrs. Bob Owens, Monticello; Mrs. Francis Moore, Oneida; Mrs. L. A. West, Onedia; one sister, Mrs. M. Thomas, Stearns; seven grandchildren. A number of persons from here attended the funeral.
