Thompson, Dr. Milford— 68, of Oneida, passed away Tuesday morning, December 23, at his home. He was the son of the late Milford Elcaney Thompson and the late Etta Boshears Thompson. He was a member of the A.M.A., State, and Scott County Medical Societies; a member of the Oneida Independent School Board; and also on the Board of Directors at the First National Bank. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Oneida. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Massey Thompson of Oneida, two sons, Robert Milford (Bob) Thompson and Thomas Scott Thompson, both of Oneida; two daughters in laws, Mrs. Bob (Kay) Thompson and Mrs. Scott (Cyndi) Thompson both of Oneida, two sisters, Mrs. Ben (Violet) White of Jackson; and Mrs. Jim (Bertie) Richey of Oneida; one brother: Ewell S. Thompson of Oak Ridge; four granddaughters, Wendy Joy Thompson, Amy Elizabeth Thompson, Amanda Kate Thompson and Lindy Thompson, all of Oneida; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, December 26, at the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Roy Howard and Rev. George Buchanan officiating. Burial was in the Thompson Family Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers were Dr. H.M. Leeds, Dr. Roy McDonald, Jack Walz, Senator Howard H. Baker, Dr. Bruce Coffey, Paul Cobble and Ralph Jeffers. Active Pallbearers were: Dr. George W. Kline, Dr. Maxwell Huff, Dr. A. K. McCartt, Lynn A. Williamson, Andrew H. Jacobs, and W. H. Swain. In lieu of flowers the family requested that contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church. West Murley Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
