He was born Nov. 4, 1913, in Flomot. He was born and attended schools in Flomot. He married Irene Merritt on Dec. 22, 1934. He was a civilian aircraft mechanic during World War II.
He moved to Tulia in 1952. He worked for Mid-Plains Rural Telephone Co. in Tulia for 17 years. He retired as a farmer. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Tulia before moving to Keller.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jana McDermett of Keller and Kay Harper of Derby, Kan.; two sons, Eddie of San Antonio and Don of Hurst; a sister, Dilley Garrett of Plainview; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
