Mrs. Helen L.S. Amidon, 77, died Wednesday, February 5, after a brief illness. Her health had been failing for the past few years. Born in the Town of VanBuren in 1876, where her early childhood was spent. She was the daughter of the late Charles M. and Helen L. Schuyler. A graduate of the Baldwinsville Academy, she later taught school until the time of her marriage to Morris D. Amidon 48 years last October. In 1906, the family moved to the present residence on Amidon Road in Marcellus where death occurred. Mrs. Amidon was known for her devotion to her family and home. Until recent years she had been an active member of the Marcellus Methodist Church and it's social organizations. She had also been a member of the Syracuse Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Leland Hares of Skaneatles, Miss GRace Amidon of Marcellus, and two sisters, Mrs. Edith Byrnes and Mrs. Ethel Mosier, both of Auburn. She was also the sister of the late Mrs. Dwight J. Chrisler whos death occurred March 11, 1946.
Funeral services were conducted at the Uttley & Norris Funeral Home on Saturday afternoon, February 8, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Charles W. Fryer officiating. Interment was in Highland Cemetery.
