SPOT, N.C.- Alveston Sawyer, 87, died Sunday in Albemarle Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Blanche Waterfield Sawyer.
He was a retired farmer and was a member of Powell's Point Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. James G. Blount of Elizabeth City, Mrs. Marcella Halstead of Virginia Beach, and Mrs. Joseph G. Dzwonek of Spot; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Powell's point Baptist Church by the rev. Herbert Hemingway. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Twiford Memorial Chapel, Elizabeth City, is in charge. The family will be at his home.
