ASKREN
Eva Mae Askren, daughter of Samuel and Mary Ann Bingaman, was born in Lucas County, Iowa July 30, 1889 and departed this life Feb. 6, at the Chariton Manor in Chariton at the age of 89 years, five months and six days.
Most of her life was spent in Lucas County and after taking training in Indianola to become a teacher she taught in the rural schools of Lucas County until her marriage Nov. 25, 1913 to James Lloyd Askren. They made their home on a farm in Lucas County. Three children came to bless their home.
In 1945, she and her husband moved to Chariton. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1955; one granddaughter, Donna Askren; one great-granddaughter, Kathy Decker; her parents and one brother, Loren.
She is survived by one son, James Askren and wife, Nancy of Russell; two daughters, Mrs. Wilma Thompson and husband, Cleo of Chariton and Mrs. Juanita Mae Randall and husband, Hugh of Princeton, Mo.; six granddaughters; four grandsons; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Velta Kincaid of Chariton; and one sister-in-law, Fern Bingaman of Chariton; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 1979 at the Fielding Funeral Home with the Rev. Wauneita McConnell officiating. Burial was in the Oak Dale Cemetery.
