"Smooth the locks of silver hair,
On mother's brow with tender care,
Gather the robe in final fold
Around the form so still and cold;
Lav on her bosom, pure as snow
The fairest, sweetest flowers that grow,
Kiss her and leave her our hearts delight;
Her pain is over she sleeps to night."
The children who survive her are; John and Mrs. Thos, Kidd, of this place, Archie, of Hubbard, Mrs. Amos Williams of Backus, Mrs. Lee Searles of Akeley, Curtis, of Belview, N.D.., and Addie of South Dakota, all but the latter being at the funeral.
After a long and useful life she died as she lived – honored, trusted and loved. She reared her own monument while she lived in the hearts of all who knew her. Her life was completed if work all done and well done constitutes completion. But she has left us and today the autumn leaves fall upon another grave that hides from our sight all that is mortal of a true and noble woman.
The funeral was held from the Methodist Church at this place, Rev. Alex J. Abbott officiating and the remains were laid to rest beside that of her husband at Shell City. The family have the sympathy of all.
