Gordon Korsberg passed away on Jul 22, 2004, in Sioux Falls, SD. Gordon August Korsberg was born on Sept 1, 1925, in Strandburg, SD, the son of Carl August and Agnes (Backman) Korsberg. In addition to his parents, two sisters, Adelene Johnson and Mildred Erpelding, preceded him in death. He grew up and graduated from high school in Standburg. Following his graduation from high school Gordon entered into active service in the US Army on Sept 29, 1944. During his service he received an Army of Occupation Medal (Japan), Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal and a Purple Heart for wounds he received in action on Jun 11, 1945. Gordon was honorably discharged from the Army on Nov 2, 1946. Gordon returned to Standburg following his discharge. He was a skilled craftsman, and a talented woodworker. Gordon was very mechanical and a 'Jack of All Trades'. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Gordon was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church, Sioux Falls, SD, and a member of the Brandon VFW Post #4726, Brandon, SD. Grateful for having shared his life are his two children: Jim Korsberg and friend, Marilyn Ronk, Brookings, SD, and Dr. Cassandra Pash and her husband, Jeff, Irvine, CA; two grandchildren: Jessica and Luke, both of Irvine, CA; a nephew: Dr. David Johnson; and a host of other relatives and friends. Memorial services were held on Mon, July 26, 2004, at the Miller Funeral Home, Sioux Falls, SD, which was responsible for the arrangements. Interment was in the Hills of Rest Memorial Park, Sioux Falls, SD.
