Joseph Uram, 85, died Thursday at his Napa home after a brief illness.

Mr Uram was born in Pennsylvania, one of 16 children of Stanley Uram and Thelma Mosure. After serving in the the US Navy for eight years he came to California. He was employed as a journeyman machinist at Mare Island Naval Shipyard for over 18 years, retiring in 1960.

He was a resident of Napa for almost four decades and lived for abouth three years in St. Helena.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia of Napa, two daughters, Marlene Griffen of Oakland and Lois Hopkins of St. Helena; three brothers, Leo of Trafford, PA and Walter and Raymond of Acme, PA.

He was predeceased by a son, William in 1987.

A Catholic prayer service will be held at Claffey and Rota Funeral Home, 1975 Main St., Recitation of the rosary will be at 4pm Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Tulocay Cemetery.
