Charles Franklin Strain, Sr. is the son of William Lee Strain (1818-1896) and Margaret Ellen Harris (Ray) (1842-1903). He married Henrietta Mazouria Redwine (1880-1974) on 5 April 1903 in Whitfield County, Georgia.

Funeral Services for Charlie Strain Held Thursday
Funeral services for Charlie Strain, 85, were conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. from the Hill City Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry Holland, Dr. Robert Jackson and the Rev. Nuckolls officiating. Interment was in West Hill Cemetery in Dalton.
Mr. Strain died at 11 a.m. Tuesday at his residence 216 Fort Hill Terrace in Dalton. He was a life-long resident of Hill City having moved to Dalton just recently.
He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Etta Redwine of Dalton; two daughters, Mrs. Austin Aubrey [Awbrey] of Dalton, Mrs. Nevin Miller of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; four sons, Jack, Henry and Frank Strain of Dalton and Bill Strain of Atlanta; one sister, Mrs. R. D. Lay of Fairmount; 15 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

STRAIN--CHARLIE F., age 85, passed away at his home, 216 Fort Hill Terrace, Dalton, Ga., Tuesday night. Mr. Strain had recently moved to Dalton from Hill City, Ga., where he had been a lifelong resident. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Etta Redwine Strain, of Dalton; two daughters, Mrs. Austin Aubrey of Dalton and Mrs. Nevin Miller of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; four sons, Jack Henry and Frank Strain, all of Dalton; Bill Strain, Atlanta; one sister, Mrs. R. D. Lay, of Fairmount, Ga.; 15 grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Hill City Baptist Church, with the Revs. Robert Jackson, Henry Holland and Earl Nuckolls officiating. Interment in West Hill Cemetery, Dalton. Love Funeral Home in charge. The body will lie in state at the church from 2 o'clock until the funeral hour. Please omit flowers. The body will remain at the funeral home.
