Died in Thibodaux at 3 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25. She was 87, native of Winn Parish. Resided at 633 University Walk and was Baton Rouge resident for 34 years. Religious service at First Baptist Church, Thibodaux Wednesday. Body will be taken to Montgomery, La., for services Thursday, Aug. 26. Burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Montgomery.

Survived by two sons, George R. Bates, Thibodaux, and Eugene Rudolph Bates, Gulfport, Miss.; two daughters, Mrs. Mertyce Bates Hall, Baton Rouge, and Mrs. Lucille Richard, Thibodaux. Four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Baton Rouge.
