In the death of Mrs. Agostino D. Sickles, which occured at Conklin, Thursday, October 31, 1912, the community lost one of its earliest settlers.
She was born in Orleans County, New York, in 1839, and came to Michigan with her people, settling at Dennison. In 1858, she was married to Agostino D. Sickles who survives her. To this union were born eight children, five of whom are living, two sons, J. L. Sickles, of Evart, Michigan, and Alvin D. Sickles, of Conklin, Michigan; three daughters, Mrs. Adeline Lillibridge, of Muskegon, Michigan, Mrs. L. B. Stewart, of Seattle ,Washington, Mrs. Hattie Garter, of Ferrysburg, Michigan. She leaves two sisters, Mrs. Gilbert Hodges, of Mesick, Michigan, and Mrs. G. W. Russell, of Plainwill, Michigan; thirteen grandchildren and a wide circle of friends.
