Arlie Lewis Barnes, 77, died April 10, 1998 in Klamath Falls.

Mr. Barnes was born in Wisconsin to Dewey and Lula (Barker) Barnes.

He was raised in Wisconsin and graduated from high school there.

He was married Dec. 6, 1941, to Virginia Hess just prior to entering the Navy, from which he was honorably discharged in 1945.

They moved to Washington, then in 1948 to Klamath Falls.

Mr. Barnes began working as an engineer for Southern Pacific Railway Co. He retired in 1985.

He was a member of VFW Post No. 1383.

He enjoyed cribbage, salmon fishing, and watching sports on television.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia of Klamath Falls, daughter and son-in-law, Randy and Darlene Barnes of Klamath Falls; son, Lance Barnes of Klamath Falls; daughters and sons-in-law, Ardith and Mike Lewis of Kent, Wash., Sherry and Mitch Harden of Redding and Sandra and Doran Blair of Klamath Falls; brother, Dewey Barnes of Helena, Mont.; sisters, Berna Clements of Tucson, Ariz., Wilma McEachern of Clancey, Mont.; grandchildren, Wendy Tanner, Paula Duman, Brent Lewis, Eric Lews, Tina Harden, Craig and Jeff Barnes, Lana And Scott Barnes, Leah Blair, Adrienne Blair, Kelly Means, Aaron and Alex Means, and Rene Alverez; sister-in-law, Daisy Barnes of Anchorage, Alaska.
