OBITUARY

Nancy Elizabeth Stricklin was born at Wheeling, W. Va., June 5, 1861, and departed this life at her home at Stafford, Kans., May 15, 1928, after an illness of several months, being 66 years and 11 months of age.

When four years old she moved with her widowed mother to Lincoln county, Mo., where on Nov. 20, 1879, she was united in marriage to James S. Blackburn.

They moved to Barton County Mo. 1861 [ 1881 ?] and on to Stafford county Kansas in 1889, where they lived on a farm 3 miles northwest of Stafford, until they retired and moved to the present home in this city.

She is survived by three daughters and one son: Mrs. Maude J. Jenkins, Stafford; Mrs Effie G. Smith, Hooker, Okla.; Amanda and Stanton at home; one step daughter, Mrs. Maggie T. McMillan, Stafford; two step sons, Fletcher A. Blackburn, Anthony, Kansas; and John B. Blackburn of Garden City, Kans.; also a sister, Mrs. A. J. Bachelor of Jefferson, Oklahoma.

Her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Della H. Fortner, step son, Warner E. Blackburn, and two grandsons, Wayne and Eaton Fortner, preceded her in death.

She was converted early in life and was a member of the Baptist church.

She was a lover of flowers and spent all her spare time in collecting and growing every variety she could obtain. Nature always responded by surrounding her home with every kind of blossom from early spring until frost; truly Nature's symbol and expression of love, cheer and good will.

Surely the hospitality of her home with her radiant cheerfulness will be sadly missed by the community.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Thursday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Ray H. W. Briers of Olathe, forme pastor of this church, assisted by Rev. A. W. Lee.

Interment was made in Stafford cemetery.
