Ruth Richard Ammons, 72, of 307 Johnson Road, wife of K.L. "Jack" Ammons, died Jan. 18, 2001, at St. Francis Hospital.

A native of Granite Falls, N.C., she was the daughter of Mrs. Lois Watson Richards of Granite Falls and the late W.P. Richards. She was a retired nurse and a member of First Baptist Church. She had been an active volunteer for Greer Community Ministries for over 20 years.

Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra A. and John Phillips of Charlotte, N.C., and Pamela A. and Harold James of Greer; a sister, Barbara R. Williams of Granite Falls; five grandchildren, Brad Phillips, Todd Phillips, and Keely Phillips, Greg James, and Libba Kulis; and four great-grandchildren, Kathryn Phillips, Callum Burks, Gibson James, and Warner James.

She was predeceased by a brother, W.O. "Bud" Richards.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Wood Memorial Park, conducted by Dr. Wilson Nelson and Harold James.

The family is at the home of a daughter, Pam James, 305 Johnson Road, Greer.
