Married (1) Nettie M. Cadwell on Dec. 18, 1877 in Vermilion Co., Illiois. Together they were the parents of Gaylord William Akin. Their union ended in divorce in Colorado between 1895 and 1900.

Henry followed brother John Silas to Houston, Texas where he married (2) widow Alma Marie (Ferrell) Anderson, circa 1903. That union also ended in divorce after 1910, and Henry returned to Colorado.
