Gail F. Evans, age 68, died Wednesday morning, October 13, 1999 at St. Luke Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa following an extended illness.

He was born Sept. 25, 1931 at Vinton, Iowa to Merrill James and Neva Ruth (Stevenson) Evans During the Korean Conflict he proudly served his nation in the U.S.- Army attaining the rank of Sergeant.
For seven years he was employed at the Vinton Hybrid Seed Co. Throughout his working career he assisted his brother-in-law, Louis "Touie" Raitt in the masonry business on either a full-time or part-time basis. "Touie" was like a brother to Gail.
After over 27 years of employment as a Welder at Cedarapids, Inc. in Cedar Rapids, he retired in 1993 due to health problems.
He was a member of Machinist Local 831 and the Emil H Dutler American Legion Post 177 in Mt. Auburn

An avid hunter and fisherman until his health failed, he also enjoyed Chicago Bulls and Hawkeye basketball Games. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandchildren

On April 16, 1961 he married Doris Albers at the EUR. church in Vinton In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Lorraine "Lorry" Evans of Cedar Rapids, Teresa and (Gordon Floyd, and Danny Evans and special friend Sandy Jacobsen, all of Vinton, Karen and Bret Smith of rural Winterset and David and Andrea Evans of rural Vinton, seven grandchildren, Patrick Samantha Floyd, Breanne Evans, Nathanael, Nicholas, Colton and Corinne Smith; his brother, Roger Evans of Dysart, his sister, Maxine Raltt of Vinton, sister-in-law, Jeanne Evans of Marion, his wife's brothers, Ralph Albers of Mt Auburn and John and Mary Albers of Waterloo, nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Nadine Scott two brothers, Robert and Evans, brother-in-law, Louis 'Raitt, niece Sally Scott and nephew, James Scott
