John W. Vetter, 84, Bismarck, formerly of Zeeland, beloved husband of Margaret M. Hasenmueller Vetter, died suddenly and peacefully in his sleep on March 27, 1999.
John is the father of Marcella Vetter Wald (Mrs. Rodney Wald of Crystal, Minn.) and Sylvia Vetter Hilt (Mrs. David J. Hilt of Midland, Mich.). He will be greatly missed by his children and four grandchildren: Lisa L. Wald (Mrs. John C. Eckman of St. Paul, Minn.), John A. Wald of Minneapolis, Lori M. Hilt of Appleton, Wis., and Heidi M. Hilt of Appleton.
John is survived by one brother, Tony Vetter, and his wife, Ann, of Cudahy, Wis.; and five sisters, Sophie Salwei Kirchenman and spouse, John, of Aberdeen, S.D., Ann Schneider of Hopewell, Va., Alice Welk of Bismarck, Clara Lipp and spouse, Leo, of Strasburg, and Katie Wald of Ellendale; and numerous relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Feist Vetter (1957) at age 68; his sister, Lucarda (Lucy) Vetter Schlosser (1961) at age 48; his father Wendelin M. Vetter (1975) at age 90; Mike Vetter (February 1976) at age 65; and Andy Vetter (September 1976) at age 66.
Brothers-in-law, Mike Salwei, Mike Schlosser, Paul John Schneider, Gabe Welk and Andy Wald also preceded John in death.
A prayer vigil service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of St. Anne, 1321 Braman Ave., with the Rev. Ed Wehner officiating. Interment will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan. Military honors will be provided by the VFW Post No. 1326.
