William A Wandless, 56, of Rt 2, was drowned yesterday afternoon shortly after 5:00 when his small outboard motor boat capsized in the Ohio River at the Point, appoximately 75 feet from the shore. The body of Wandless was recovered from the river in about 40 minutes and was rushed to the Camden Clark Memorial Hospital where life was pronounced extinct.
The drowning victim was an employee of the C A Robrecht Co.
The body of Wandless was removed to the Leavitt Funeral Home pending burial arangements. The victim leaves his wife, Mrs Freda B Wandless, a son Billy, whose life was saved from drowning, 5 daughters, Mrs Carrie McFee, Betty Wandless, Mrs Freda Poyet, Mrs Ada Mercer, and Virgie Wandless, another occupant rescued from the boat.
The victim also leaves his mother, Emma Wandless, and a brother Asa L Wandless.
Funeral rites will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. from the Lynn Street Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Mt Olivet Cemetery. The remains were to be taken to the family residence from the funeral home late this afternoon.
