He was a graduate of Hawthorne High School in 1958, in Hawthorne, CA. He attended the University of Wyoming and the University of Berlin in Berlin, Germany.
He was a veteran of the United States Army (SP4).
He was united in marriage to Dora T. Christophersen on Nov. 24, 1971, at Reno, NV.
He was employed in the utility field working for Pacific Power and Light and retired in 1990. After retirement, he was employed by several electrical companies and became general manager for Metlakala Power and Light in Alaska.
He was president and CEO of Kauai Island Utility COOP in Kauai, HI.
He and his wife returned to Casper in 2006.
He is a member of the VFW.
Dutch enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his family. He was a drummer for the Wild Bunch for more than 20 years.
Dutch is survived by his wife, Dora; two daughters, Beverly Lenzen and Gayle Comeaux of Douglas, WY; two sons, Joe Achenbach and his wife, Laurie of Rock Springs, WY; and Justin Achenbach of Casper, WY; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Blessing of California.
Memorial services will be Aug. 26, at the Newcomer Funeral Home with Pastor Quin Williams officiating.
