Harvey lived in Argonia, Kansas for 13 years where he was employed by the railroad, the Argonia Hardware Store and also worked in construction. He was a volunteer fireman in Argonia and enjoyed bowling, softball, and golf. Harvey moved to Harper, Kansas in 1962 where he was employed by the Western Auto Store and later owned Miller Appliance Service. He resided in Wichita Kansas for a time and retired from Rodney's Refrigeration. After returning to Harper he began the Harper County Ice Business and later owned several rental properties. He also helped organize Harper County Square Dancers and helped promote that organization.
Besides his wife, Anna, he was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Amanda (Hershberger) Miller, two brothers, Christian and Jacob Miller, and five sisters, Mattie Troyer, Polly Caseman, Sarah Troyer, Katie Miller, and infant Anna Susan Miller; and one step brother, Levi Hershberger.
