Funeral services for Alvin John Abel, 82, of Lexington were held Wednesday, November 5 at 2:00 from Southern Funeral Home chapel in Lexington with Rev. Wayne Hudson officiating. Interment followed in Harlands Creek Cemetery near Lexington.
Mr. Abel, a native of Holmes County and a retired farmer, died at Methodist Hospital of Middle
Mississippi on Tuesday, November 4. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, William Abel of Kingston, North Carolina, and Roy Abel of Carrollton, Georgia; five daughters, Mrs. Ernestine Compton and Mrs. Jonnie Wigley, both of Lexington, Doylie Spencer of Yazoo City, Mrs. Joan Chambers of Davenport, Iowa and Mrs. Linda Benson of Flora; 23 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
