Sept. 26, 1928 — Oct. 16, 2009 COMANCHE — John William "Bud" Shelby, 81, of Comanche, died Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, in Lawton. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Ray of Hope Church with the Rev. Trent Young, the Rev. Dow Pannell and the Rev. Timothy Ball officiating, under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery.John was born Sept. 26, 1928, in Comanche, to Noah W. and Ethel Mae "Malloy" Shelby. He married Willie Sue Pickett on May 26, 1949, in Wichita Falls, Texas.He was a welder and pipefitter, and a 58-year member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union No. 344 and No. 798. John was a member of the First Baptist Church in Comanche.He is survived by his wife, Willie Sue, of the home; three daughters: Deborah Sue Blanton of Duncan, Bonnie Lou Graham and husband, Butch, of Marlow, and Vickie Ann Byerly and husband, Richard, of Comanche; a brother, Burl Edward Shelby and wife, Doris Ann, of Comanche; three sisters: Kathryn Anderson, Vinita Vails and Virginia Finnell, all of Comanche, eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Maxine Wright.Bearers will be Trevor Walker, Danny Anderson, Roy Charles Maddox, Joey Shelby, Larry Benson and Joe Ledford.
