Born in Kingstree on Sunday, May 29, 1921, she was a daughter of Enoch Riley and Essie P. Dyson Bradshaw.
Mrs. Courtney was an Interior Fabricator and the owner of Bupp's Textiles. She was a faithful member of the Church of God of Prophecy, Orange Grove Road, Charleston, for 63 years.
She loved sewing, cooking and spending time together with her family. She will be sadly missed by them all.
Mrs. Courtney was the widow of John Blease Courtney, Sr. and is survived by her children: Frankie C. Hicks, Patricia J. Floyd and husband Charles and John B. Courtney, Jr. and wife Esther; her grandchidren: Joe Hicks, Jr., Gwen H. Pardee, Donna B. Kuzio, Stephen N. Barton, Pamela C. Slay, Paula C. Hadwin, Phyllis C. Williamson and Kristy C. Still; her twenty-one great grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren as well as two sisters Mellie S. Locklair and Helen B. King-Brookes and many neices and nephews.
She was predeceased in death by her daughter, Jacqueline Courtney.
