"On January 17, 1893 Willis returned to Putnam County to settle the estate of his father. He was given Power of Attorney to sell the interest of Eli, Dillard, Nicey and Rachel, his brothers and sisters. They were also non-residents of the State of Tennessee. Recorded Book "Q", Page 337. Willis spent most of his life in Arkansas and died in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 1935."

"Eli was born in the mountains of Putnam County, Tennessee on July 13, 1864, at a place known as Possom Trot. When Eli was eight year old his father died of pneumonia. A few years later his mother was remarried to a wodower, Francis Marion Bumbalough who had several children. About 1885 the family moved to Arkansas to a place called Rhea's Mill. Here at Rhea's Mill in 1892 on June 14, at the age of twenty-eight, he was married to Ocie Lois "Birdie" Brooks. In the early 1900's he moved to the Indian Territory of Oklahoma. Eli was a tall man, being about six and a half feet in height. To Eli and Birdie was born three children, but their marriage was to last only a few short years. Birdie died April 14, 1897. On January 23, 1901 he was remarried to Mary Lucretia Cox who was born August 22, 1874. To them was born one daughter. Eli died June 5, 1944, and Mary Lucretia died June 3, 1969. From 1901 to 1904 Eli Clouse was Deputy Sheriff of Washington County, Arkansas. But he spent most of his life farming in Arkansas and Oklahoma.

OBITUARY FOR PEGGY ELLER CLOUSE:

"MRS. MARGARET CLOUSE

Mrs. Margaret Clouse, aged 87, died at 11:30 this morning at her home on South Duncan Street. She had been in declining health for several months. Deceased is survived by two daughters - Mrs. J. R. Campbell and Mrs. D.H. Jeffers of Fayetteville, and three sons - D.M. Clouse of Texas and Willis and Eli Clouse of Oklahoma. Funeral services will probably be held tomorrow, though arrangements have not yet been completed.

Interment will be made in Evergreen Cemetery."

"After her first husbands death she was remarried on January 1, 1877 to Francis Marion Bumbalough, a widower with several children. They had no children. On February 20, 1882 she sold her interest in the farm at Possom Trot which had belonged to her husband since the 1830's, and in 1885 the family moved west to Arkansas, stopping for a short while at Calico Rock, but moved on the Rhea's Mill, Arkansas where she lived in a log cabin until 1910, when she moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas so as to be near her daughter, Rachel Clouse Jeffers. She died there on June 13, 1917. She was a daughter of Henry and Dosha Eller."
