Born in Rossville, he moved to Anderson in 1920. He was employed here at the Philadelphia Quartz Works until his retirement in 1954.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Edward (Eva) Carpenters, Mrs. W.H. (Faye) Etter of Modesto Calif, and Mrs. Elwood (Orpha) Gipe of Chambersburg, Pa; a son, Albert skiles of Anderson; and two brothers, harry and Andrew M. Skiles of Anderson; five sisters, Mrs. Dora Niccum and Mrs. Martha Renicker, both of North Manchester, Mrs. Mary Metzger of Goshen, Mrs. Sarah Lair of Eldorado, Ohio and Mrs. Clara Austin of Rossville; 29 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Old German Baptist Church west of Pendleton. Elder Herman Shuman and Willis Benedict will officiate. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the Cornell Bright Funeral Home in Pendleton and from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
