1st Lt. on the Staff of Brig. Gen. A.M. Manigault, C.S.A. and was wounded severely in the thigh at the Battle of Franklin, Tennessee on November, 30, 1864. He had 2 horses killed under him in the action on July 22, 1864 at Atlanta, Georgia where his commander noted that he was "Gallant in his actions".
