Rebecca Emery Morton was born on February 19, 1901 in Stowe, Vermont, to Rev. Clarence P. Emery and Mabel Louise Bolton Emery. She was the oldest of five children: Alice "Betty", Edwin, Anthony, and Phyllis. Her family moved to the Colorado area and eventually settled in Pueblo. Rebecca received her A.B. in English from the University of Colorado in 1921. She married Albert Emile Morton in Pueblo, Colorado in January 1924 and they had one son. Rebecca was a librarian at the McClelland Library, and a medical librarian at St. Mary's, Corwin, and Parkview Hospitals, in Pueblo, throughout her career. Rebecca died in 1983 in Pueblo at the age of 82.
