Mrs. Maraldia Willey Hanks, 82, widow of Emanuel Hanks, Clearfield, died Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the family residence after an extended illness.
Mrs. Hanks was born Feb. 26, 1868, in Bountiful, a daughter of William W. and Nancy Tolman Willey.
She resided in Bountiful until 1900 when the family moved to Syracuse, Davis county, then moved to Clearfield in 1906.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Clearfield First ward, was active in Relief Society and for several years was a member of the Relief Society Stake Board of North Davis Stake. She had been a Relief Society teacher for 50 years and for 60 years was member of the church choir in various wards; in later years active in genealogical and temple work.
On Aug. 26, 1885, she was married to Mr. Hanks in Bountiful. He died in Salt Lake City Aug. 25, 1947.
Survivors are the following sons and daughters Austin E. and Agustin L. Hanks, Burley, Ida.; Douglas J. Hanks and Mrs. Melven H. (Arlene) Olson, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Paul (Sarah) Wilcox Heyburn, Ida.; Mrs. George V. (Gladys) Simpson, Ogden; Mrs. Florin B. (Phyllis) King, Clearfield.
50 grandchildren, 78 great-grand children and the following brothers and sisters: Wallace W. and Voscoe C. Willey, Bountiful; Dr. Roscoe C. Willey, Salt Lake City; Rudger C. Willey, Miami, Fla.; Mrs. Effie Holt, Burley; Mrs. R. H. (Alice) Barlow, Clearfield; Mrs. Catherine Pearson, Oakland, Cal., and Mrs. Roy (Edna) Tribe, Ogden.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Lindquist and Sons Mortuary of Ogden.
