Age 64, a resident of Taos and formally of Dixon passed away on Friday, October 9, 2009 due to kidney failure. She was preceded in death by her father, Felix Maes; mother, Emilia Maes; nephew, Victor Ortiz; sister, Minnie Ortiz; son, Michael Salazar; brother-in-law, Alex Gutierrez; and a sister-in-law, Lucy Enicso. Clara loved being with her family. For many years she cared for her grandchildren, nieces and nephews and raised and loved them all as her own. She loved to be outdoors camping, she was a very loving woman, her family was everything to her and she loved them dearly. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her husband, Jose B. Salazar of Taos; children: Caroline Martinez of Taos, Esther Garcia and husband Leroy of Taos, Ralph Salazar and wife Margaret of Ely, NV, Bernie Salazar, Jr. and wife Charlene of Santa Fe, Odie Salazar, Scott Salazar and Harvey Salazar all of Taos; brothers and sister: Billy Maes, Sr. and Theresa Marquez and husband Jose all of Dixon, Clyde Maes and wife Gloria of Peñasco; aunts: Anita Martinez and Juanita Gonzales and husband Jose all of Dixon and Mabel Martinez of Taos; many nieces and nephews; sister and brothers-in-law: Bertha Smith and husband Walter of Grants, Frances Martinez, Fred Gutierrez and wife Nancy and Angie Gutierrez all of Taos; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. The following will serve as pallbearers: Norman Martinez, David Marquez, Wilfred Ortiz, Jorge Rascon, Billy Maes, Jr. and Louie Gonzales. The family of Clara Garcia-Salazar has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
