Taken sick a few minutes after taking an automobile ride with friends Tuesday evening, Ezra Burkholder, 2 Granitold Flats, which he owned, died suddenly at 220 West Sixth street at 11:15 after a physician had been summoned. Heart trouble was the cause of his death.

Mr. Burkholder was born in White Vale, Ont., Dec. 22, 1856, and came to Davenport 30 years ago. Twenty-five years ago he married Miss Catherine Lamb, who preceded him in death on Jan. 21, 1922. He was for many years in the sidewalk business, but had been retired in recent years.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. C. A. Fowler of Lisbon, O., and Miss Margaret at home; and two sons, Elmer and Ezra, jr., both at home; two sisters, Mrs. H. Gerke of Toronto, Ont., and Miss Cora of Montreal, Que.; two brothers, George of White Vale, Ont., and John of Lindsey, Ont.

The funeral will be held from the Fred N. Ruhl funeral home at a time to be announced later, after the arrival of out of town relatives, and interment will be in Holy Family cemetery.

The funeral of Ezra Burkholder was held Saturday afternoon from the family home, No. 2 Granitold flats, at 2:30. Rev. J. A. Miller officiated at the home, where Edward O'Donnell sang "Nearer My God to Thee" and after the sermon, "Face to Face". At the conclusion of the services she he sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Interment was made at Holy Family cemetery.

Pallbearers were J. M. STudebaker, H. C. Studebaker, Henry Copley, Wm. Lamb, James Lamb, and Harry Oddey.
