Marie Chambers Burnette, 84, of Jesup, GA., died May 27, 2004 at her residence after an extended illness. The Union County, GA native had lived in Wayne County for 52 years. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and the Faithful Sunday School Class. She was the widow of Durance V. Burnette.

Survivors are daughters and sons-in-law Vivian B. Moreland of Blairsville, GA., Rhonda and Philip Tyre of Screven, GA; son Ronald D. and Deborah Burnette of Jesup, GA; sisters Retha Chambers Overstreet of Blairsville, GA., Ellavie Gerean of Pensacola, FL; brothers Cecil J. Chambers of Lawrenceville, GA., Roger J. Chambers of Blue Ridge, GA., Earl J. Chambers of Morganton, GA., Winston M. Chambers of Blairsville, GA; grandchildren Philip Brint Tyre and Justin S. Tyre, both of Screven, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held at the Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Jesup, GA., with Rev. John Carlton and Rev. Bill Platt officiating. Interment was in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers were comprised of the Faithful Sunday School Class of the Calvary Baptist Church.
