Lura Bell White was born on May 25, 1900 in Blossom, Texas, daughter of Milton Jackson White (1860-1915) and Emily Minerva Lusena "Sena" (Johnson) White Guthrie (1870-1939). She attended Blossom schools. She was, also, known as "Sis".

She is the sister of Tilden "Edd" Edward (1887); Florence Nellie (1889); Emmett (1891); Stella Mae (1894); Cora Letha (1897); Alma Eugenia (1903); Finis Elchard (1906) and Robbie Leona (1909) White.

Until 1957, Lura lived in Dallas when she retired and moved to Paris, TX. Lura was a telephone operator with Southwestern Bell for 40 years in Paris and Dallas, TX. She was a member of Paris First Church of the Nazarene for 75 years where she was church secretary for many years. Also, Lura was a member of the ladies adult Sunday School Class. She was a member the Telephone Pioneers.

On Jan 26, 1954, Lura White, 372 3rd NW, Paris, married Jefferson 'Jeff' Davis Hines Hines of Dallas, TX at 1 p.m. at the home of the Rev. B.J. Fletcher, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene. They did not have any children.

For many years, Lura "Sis" lived in a duplex next door to her sister, Letha Thompson. They shared many family events & gatherings over the years, especially after husband, Jeff, died in 1980.

On October 18, 1990, Lura B. (White) Hines, age 90, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, Paris, Lamar County, TX. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Paris.
