Marvin Shelton, 41, of Athens, died Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 4, 2002, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and Fannie Shelton and Bill and Ellen Goins.
Survivors include his father and mother, Clyde and Mollie Goins Shelton of Athens; one son, Jason Shelton of Athens; two brothers, Danny and David Shelton, both of Athens; a special friend, Conway Brown; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in Short Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Gary King officiating.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home.
