Beloved Mother & Grandmother Violet Staples Judd, 85, passed away peacefully at her home on Oct. 9, 2009. Our beloved Violet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a dear friend to many.Mom was born on Dec. 6, 1923, in Ashland, KY., the oldest daughter of Herbert Robert William and Lillian Avenelle Kimbler Dillistone, both of whom preceded her in death. Mom was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and served in many church positions. Our "mom" met her sweetheart, Paul Staples, when she came from Kentucky to live in Coalville at age 16. They were married in Ironton, Ohio and were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Seven wonderful children were born of this union. After Paul's tragic death, she married Ralph LaVar Judd. As loving companions, they enjoyed many happy years serving the Lord as temple workers. Mom maintained her ladylike southern hospitality throughout her life and made anyone who entered her lovely home feel loved and welcome. Cooking, crocheting, oil painting, reading gospel doctrine, gardening and bird watching were some favorite pastimes. Her greatest passion was being a mother. She cherished every child and grandchild. Preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Bill; a baby daughter Anita Louise, a grandson, Dion, a son in law, Val Cowley and both of her husbands, Paul and Ralph. Survived by children, William (DiAnn) Staples, Coalville; Carol (Byron) France, Coalville; Norman (Kathryn) Staples, Castlerock, CO.; Rodney (Carla) Stapels, West Weber; Marie Cowley, Logan; and Glenda (DeLyn) Holt, Salt Lake City; 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grand children, and four great great grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Potter, Flatwoods, KY.; and June (Paul) Palmer, Provo; nephews and nieces. The family expresses a special thank you to all those "special friends" who were so kind to "mom" throughout the years, a special thanks to Crestwood Care Center nurses. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 11:00 am. At the Coalville Stake Center where friends may call on Monday evening from 6 to 8 pm and again from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Tuesday. Arrangements under the direction of Crandall Funeral Home of Kamas, UT. Rather than sending flowers, consider donating to the temple building or missionary fund.
