Mrs. Benson was born in Salt lake City, March 3, 1867, a daughter of Milton O. and Mary Mitchell Turnbow. When a small child she moved to Kamas Valley with her parents who were early pioneers of that section. She married John J. Benson October 11, 1883 in the Salt Lake Endowment house. She resided in Woodland, Utah until 1913, at which time she moved to Ioka where she has since made her home. She was an active worker in the church, civic and community affairs, having served as president of the ward Relief Society and primary associations.
She is the mother of ten children, eight of whom survive. They are Mrs. Lula Horton of Fan Fancisco, Melvin J. Benson, Archie Benson and Mrs. Eva Miles of Ioka, Leroy Benson and Murel Benson of Roosevelt, Maurice Benson and Mrs. Naomi Swain of Idaho Falls, Idaho. She is also survived by 44 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Mary A. Lefler of Park City, Frank Turnbow of Kamas, Ben Turnbow and Parley Turnbow of Tabiona.
