Doris was born on February 18, 1934 in Watonwan County, Minnesota to Clarence and Bertha (Roeglin) Christenson. After graduating from Butterfield High School, she moved to San Francisco where she worked as a bank teller. After she moved back to Minnesota, she married Roger Hovden in St. James. In the late 1960s and early 1970s she owned and operated Montgomery Wards and Skogmos Clothing in Glenwood Minnesota and from 1974-1997 she owned and operated Bevans Clothing in St. James. After retiring she moved to Mankato. Doris's hobbies include gardening, ceramics, cooking, entertaining and shopping. Doris also had a knack for decorating.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Renee DeLong of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Jim (Shirley) Christenson of Menomonie, WI; sister, Marlene Eckstrom (Dale) of St. James, MN; she is also by her very dear friends Mark Vollmer of Mankato and Jesse Robles of Mankato. Her parents and one brother, Dick, preceded her in death.
