AGED MOTHER SUCCUMBS TO LINGERING ILLNESS

Mrs. Henry Lilly Passed Away Saturday Night; Burial at Spring Hill Tuesday

Mrs. Rachel Ellen Lilly, widow of the late Henry Lilly, passed away about ten o'clock Saturday night at the family home near Wright Corner.

Mrs. Lilly had been in extremely poor health for sometime.

Life Sketch

Rachel Ellen, daughter of Robert and Mary Ellen Sculley, was born August 31, 1866 and departed from this life at the family home in Loudon township, April 6, 1946, aged 79 years, 6 months and 5 days.

On January 15, 1887, she was united in marriage to Henry E. Lilly, who passed away two years ago. To this union thirteen children were born. One daughter died in infancy.

She is survived by seven sons and five daughters: Mrs. Mary Goff, Scopppoose, Oregon; Rachel Jennings, Beecher City; Laura Armer, Carlyle; Josephine Long, Tamalco; Kate Dively, Smithboro; Wm. E., Dotson Baine, Lemuel, George Dewey, and Jeff D., all of Beecher City; Robert , Tamalco, and Spurgeon, Macon, Ill.; 43 grandchildren, 6 great granchildren; one brother, Robert Sculley, Tower Hill.

Her father died when she was quite small and a good friend, Jesse D. Jennings, reared her and her brother as their own.

Funeral Services

The remains were brought to the Cook funeral home, where they remained until time of the funeral service at the Spring Hill Church Tuesday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. A.E. Kretzer. An unusually large crowd was in attendance.

Mesdames Walter Weaber and Glen Collins sang: "Going Down the Valley" "Shake Hands With Mother", and "Nearer My God to Thee." They were accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Dorse Rogers.

The beautiful floral offerings were carried by: Bernice , Jeanie and Joyce Lilly, Madonna Shane, Carma Dively, and Ellen Landers.

The casket bearers were: Vaughn, Duane and Raymond Lilly, Eugene and Lemuel Rhodes, and Talty Jennings.
