Babe was the firstborn child of Amanlius Warren Pulliam and Sarah Jane "Sallie" Sudduth. He married Elizabeth Spaulding in 1906 in Franklin County, Kentucky. They were the parents of eight children. Sadly, three of the children died before age 10, and of the five remaining children, three died in their early twenties during the tuberculosis outbreak.
