Nelson native Robert Earl "Bob" Kulek Jr., 47, of Ainsworth died Sunday, March 14, 1993, at Brown County Hospital in Ainsworth.

Services were Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Ainsworth. Burial was in Ainsworth Cemetery.

Mr. Kulek was born Dec. 25, 1945, in Nelson. He moved with his family to a farm south of Guide Rock. He attended elementary school at Eckley. He graduated from Guide Rock High School in 1964. He graduated from Milford Tech School, specializing in air conditioning and refrigeration. On June 12, 1966, he married Linda Holthaus at Guide Rock. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966-1970. His tours of duty included Wichita Falls, Texas, Little Rock, Ark., and the Philippine Islands. He moved to Ainsworth in 1970. He was employed at the Gambles store until 1982. He and his wife then purchased the Haake Insurance Agency. He also was self-employed as a refrigeration technician.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Lions Club, the BPOE Lodge No. 1790, the American Legion and the Clear Lake Club, all of Ainsworth. He also was sound director for the Love, Peace & Joy singers of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors are his wife; one son, Matthew of Albuquerque, N.M., one daugher, Lisa Kulek of Hastings; his parents, Robert and Rosemarie Kulek of Superior; one sister, Jeanette Bates of Hastings; three brothers, Thomas and Steven, both of Hastings, and David of Lincoln.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.

Hoch Funeral Home of Ainsworth was in charge of arrangements.
