One of 14 living children Esther was a expert pianist and achieved her college degree. She grew up in a Cotton Mill town and learned tatting with easy skill and grace.

Her marriage to Cecil Glenn Harden at the heart of the Great Depression would mold and shape how she would live her life and raise her 8 children.

She had two sons serving at the same time in World War II, one in the Army the other in the Navy. Her youngest would serve in Korea.

She worked as a movie ticket sales person and at concession stands of movie theaters throughout Georgia with her husband. She also was a seamstress.

She witnessed Haley's comets and the effects it had on a nation of people that were not connected by the airways like today to know what was really happening.

She knew and passed on the value of the grave marker, the life savings that went into to showing that "This person had been here and left even a small mark" Pay it some heed and respect.

When she died she left 8 children, 22 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren with small bits of her smile, laugh and love.

Crossing the Bar

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.

Alfred Lord Tennyson
