Mildred Brown, 95, formerly of Fairmount died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009 in Wesleyan Health Care Center in Marion.
She was the daughter of the late Otho Compton and the late Fern Marie (Payne) Compton. She was born on June 25, 1914 in Fairmount, IN. She graduated from Fairmount High School and attended Marion Business College.
Mildred was employed as a secretary in the accounting Department at Farnsworth ( RCA) for many years. She retired in 1975. She had also been a secretary at Robert Lutz Interiors for 6 years. She was an active member of Fairmount Friends Church where she was involved in the USFW and the Flower Committee. She was a member of the Fairmount Reading Club, Fun Club and a lifetime member of the Fairmount Historical Museum. She loved playing euchre and attended many classes at IWU.
Mildred is survived by one grandchild, Michael William (Pat) Brown, Edgewater, Md.; one great-grandchild, Matthew Russell Brown; daughter-in-law, Mary A Brown, Edgewater, Md.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Russell Brown in 2007; and her friend, Donald L. Jenkins in 2003.
Services are at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, 2009 in Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount with Jackie Michaelson officiating.
